REM were engaged by OMV to undertake two environmental-related projects of significance in 2010:

  • Review and renew the Maari Oilfield Discharge Management Plan, required by Marine Protection Rules Part 200.  In essence, changing the plan to reflect that the field was now in production following completion of earlier exploration and dvelopment drilling; and
  • A comprehensive audit of the environmental management systems in place at OMV with specific reference to how well (or not) OMV personnel were managing the environmental aspects of the Maari field with reference to all relevant New Zealand standards and requirements as well as detailed internal OMV standards and requirements.

Both of these projects were completed within extremely tight deadlines, to the satisfaction of OMV.

REM also drafted and lodged a resource consent for the positioning of the ENSCO 107 drilling rig in Tasman Bay.  This resource consent process involved consultation with a large number of parties in which REM obtained written approvals from all of them, and subsequently the resource consent was granted.
