Prior to and during the drilling of the Albacore exploration well off the coast of Waikato in 2010, Dr Mike Patrick was engaged by Westech to be the environmental 'go-to man' in the event that an oil spill or other form of unanticipated environmental incident occurred during the drilling operation.
